The CMCIA welcomes Island Harvest as its newest member

    Press releases

    OTTAWA – August 12, 2014

On behalf of its members, the Board of Directors of the Canadian Medical Cannabis Industry Association (CMCIA) is pleased to announce Island Harvest as our newest member.

Located on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Island Harvest is an organic medical cannabis producer and a licensed producer applicant under Health Canada’s Marihuana for Medical Purposes Regulations (MMPR).

“As Canada’s first certified organic producer, Island Harvest is delighted to be part of the CMCIA and we look forward to working with the group in helping to build a diverse and flourishing medical cannabis industry. An essential component of any industry sector is a professional and credible national voice to represent its members to the public, government and all stakeholders,” said Island Harvest Inc. Chief Operating Officer Eric Nash.

The addition of Island Harvest brings the total participation in the CMCIA to 13 members, eight of which are LPs under Health Canada’s MMPR. To be considered for membership, organizations must be either LPs or LP applicants who have received their ready-to-build approval from Health Canada.

“As a national association, CMCIA is always seeking a range of voices to contribute to the creation of policies and perspectives. Our membership continues to grow across the country and we couldn’t be happier with the addition of Island Harvest to our membership,” said CMCIA Membership Chair Chris Murray.

CMCIA continues to have constructive on-going dialogue with Health Canada and other key departments and stakeholders to ensure the voice of the regulated medical cannabis industry and their patients are heard. Its mission is to promote national standards and best practices by supporting the development, growth and integrity of the medical cannabis industry.
As the national voice for the medical cannabis industry, CMCIA serves as a credible and trusted resource on important issues related to this important sector for Canadian patients.

CMCIA welcomes all LPs and LP applicants into the national association as the federal government continues to license producers. More information and application forms to join CMCIA can be found at www.CMCIA.ca.
